Bank acquiring and SIMO-connected merchant acceptance
SIMO describes interbank electronic payment infrastructure and merchant-oriented electronic payment services, so bank and SIMO-connected acceptance should be the first local route to verify.
Do not assume a foreign merchant can directly access Mozambique bank, SIMO or mobile-money routes. Confirm entity, local bank account, NUIT, KYB, tax, physical presence, licence and settlement requirements directly with the contracting provider.
- Whether the bank supports ecommerce, POS, QR, card acceptance, wallet-linked collections or reference-based payments.
- Whether onboarding requires a Mozambique company, business bank account, NUIT, licence, premises or local signatory.
- Which party owns disputes, refunds, reconciliation, terminal support and card-scheme compliance.
