  • Which local payment methods are actually enabled for my merchant category and transaction model?
  • Which documents are required for KYB, website/app review, tax review, and beneficial-owner checks?
  • Which checkout flows, APIs, plugins, hosted pages, refunds, disputes, webhooks, and reconciliation files are supported?
  • Which payout currencies, FX handling, reserves, chargeback process, taxes, and support SLAs should be confirmed before launch?
Contact route fallback

If the official contact route is unclear

If a UAE provider points to an official form, a broad contact page, or no clear sales contact, start by asking for the merchant-services or PSP onboarding route that handles your business model. Ask whether your UAE acceptance options, entity review, and business category can be discussed through that official channel, and where to continue if the public page is only a support or consumer route.

  • Is this the right official route for UAE merchant or PSP onboarding?
  • Which UAE acceptance options can be reviewed for my business model?
  • What entity review should I complete before technical integration?
  • If this is a support or consumer page, where should merchant sales inquiries go?

NymCard

NymCard is infrastructure rather than a merchant-facing gateway: it sells card issuing, processing, money movement and settlement to banks, fintechs and platforms operating in MENA. A cross-border merchant would meet it as the technology behind a local partner's payout or card programme, not as a direct checkout option. Its multi-entity structure spans the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Pakistan and the UK.

NymCard operates through locally incorporated entities, including NymCard Payment Services LLC in the UAE and a Saudi information-technology entity, which is how it handles data residency and in-country regulatory expectations. Buyers should confirm which entity contracts with them and under which regulator that entity sits.

Magnati

Magnati is the payments arm carved out of First Abu Dhabi Bank and now backed by Brookfield alongside FAB, focused on direct acquiring, issuer processing and acquiring processing in the UAE. It is a domestic acquirer: merchants need a UAE entity and bank account, and it is not a vehicle for offshore merchants to bill UAE cardholders directly. It is often the processor behind bank-branded merchant offers, so smaller merchants may already be using it indirectly.

Operating from Abu Dhabi with Central Bank of the UAE licensed activities, Magnati also serves government and institutional clients, which is why its compliance and data-residency posture suits regulated and public-sector merchants.

Network International

Network International is the largest acquirer-processor in the region and serves banks, fintechs and telcos as well as merchants directly. It is the default choice for international brands entering the UAE, and it was among the first to enable Jaywan card acceptance for online payments. Its footprint across more than 50 markets makes it a single-contract option for merchants expanding across the Middle East and Africa.

Direct acquiring in the UAE runs through Network's locally licensed entities under Central Bank of the UAE oversight, and the company reports local and global compliance as a platform feature. Merchants without a UAE entity are usually served through a cross-border structure with different pricing and underwriting.

Al Etihad Payments

Al Etihad Payments is not a merchant acquirer and does not onboard merchants directly; it is the Central Bank of the UAE subsidiary that runs the national rails. A foreign merchant reaches Aani, Jaywan or UAESWITCH through a licensed bank or payment service provider, so the practical step is to ask a candidate acquirer which of these rails it supports.

AEP sits inside the Central Bank of the UAE group and directs enquiries back to licensed financial institutions and payment service providers. That structure is the clearest signal of how the UAE market works: infrastructure is public, access to it is licensed.

botim money (PayBy, Astra Tech)

The PayBy merchant network was folded into the botim money brand under Astra Tech, so older PayBy documentation still circulates while sales now runs through botim.money. It is a domestic UAE acquirer: it onboards merchants with a UAE trade licence and is not a route for an overseas company to bill UAE consumers without a local entity. Its value for cross-border merchants is the Alipay+ and WeChat acceptance it brings to tourist-facing retail.

Astra Tech's payment business operates under Central Bank of the UAE retail payment services licensing, covering merchant acquiring and wallet activity. Expect standard UAE onboarding: trade licence, shareholder KYC, and a UAE bank account for settlement.

Foloosi

Foloosi is a UAE-focused gateway for businesses with a local licence and bank account. It advertises multi-currency processing, but the merchant still needs a UAE entity and AED settlement relationship. It is not the right first stop for a merchant selling into the UAE from abroad with no local footprint.

Onboarding is built around UAE-registered businesses, and Foloosi works with licensed local partners for the underlying acquiring. Merchants should ask which licensed financial institution sits behind the settlement flow, because Foloosi positions itself as the technology and merchant-facing layer.
