Priority markets
Payment needs
- Checkout coverage across cards, local wallets, instant bank transfers, cash vouchers, QR payments, and BNPL where customers expect them.
- Order-state handling for authorization, pending cash voucher, delayed bank transfer, cancellation, partial refund, full refund, and chargeback events.
- Integration routes that fit the storefront stack, including hosted checkout, plugins, APIs, payment links, and local acquiring partners.
- Reconciliation across order management, warehouse release, shipping status, refund, dispute, settlement currency, FX, tax, and fee reporting.
- Clear provider answers on foreign-merchant onboarding, local entity needs, restricted products, recurring charges, and consumer-disclosure requirements.
Recommended route categories
- Start with the country page to identify dominant local customer methods, then compare PSPs that can connect those methods for the merchant's entity country.
- Shortlist one international PSP for cards and global fallback coverage, plus one or more local PSPs or acquirers for market-specific methods.
- For Latin America, explicitly compare instant transfer, cash voucher, local card, and marketplace-friendly PSP routes instead of treating cards as the only checkout layer.
- For South and Southeast Asia, compare wallet, QR, bank transfer, and local card routes and verify whether cross-border onboarding is available.
- Use provider contact pages to collect official forms or docs, then ask for written confirmation before engineering work begins.
Provider selection questions
- Can you board our entity country for physical-goods ecommerce in each buyer market?
- Which payment methods can be offered through one contract, and which require a separate local partner, bank account, tax registration, or platform account?
- How are pending cash voucher and bank-transfer orders expired, cancelled, or reconciled against warehouse release rules?
- Which refund, partial refund, chargeback, fraud, reserve, tax invoice, and reconciliation exports are available?
- Can your plugin or API support our storefront, mobile checkout, currency display, order management, and customer-support workflow?
Risk and compliance notes
- Physical-goods merchants still need product-category review; do not assume general ecommerce approval covers regulated goods, cross-border shipping, supplements, cosmetics, medical products, or high-return categories.
- Cash voucher and bank-transfer methods can create pending orders; merchants should define inventory reservation and expiry rules before launch.
- BNPL, wallet, and local acquiring options may depend on local terms, consumer-credit rules, refund workflows, and provider underwriting.
- Public pricing is only a screening input; written provider quotes should name the country, industry, volume, settlement currency, taxes, FX, refunds, and disputes.
